the marks humans leave are too often scars.

You can learn a lot about people from the stories they tell, but you can also know them from the way they sing along, whether they like the windows up or down, if they live by the map or by the world, if they feel the pull of the ocean.

My favorite book is you,
I want to read you cover to cover
and yet I’m stuck on chapter one
because I don’t want the story to end.
And like every great book, I read the
same parts over
and over
again.

There will always be a reason why you meet people. Either you need them to change your life or you’re the one that will change theirs.

I’m in love with this gif. Everything about it. The rain drizzling. The candle flickering. The colors. I love it.

I firmly believe in small gestures: pay for their coffee, hold the door for strangers, over tip, smile or try to be kind even when you don’t feel like it, pay compliments, chase the kid’s runaway ball down the sidewalk and throw it back to him, try to be larger than you are— particularly when it’s difficult. People do notice, people appreciate. I appreciate it when it’s done to (for) me. Small gestures can be an effort, or actually go against our grain (“I’m not a big one for paying compliments…”), but the irony is that almost every time you make them, you feel better about yourself. For a moment life suddenly feels lighter, a bit more Gene Kelly dancing in the rain.

I get it now; I didn’t get it then. That life is about losing and about doing it as gracefully as possible…and enjoying everything in between.

I am so thirsty for emotional and physical intimacy with someone

I want to nuzzle their neck and lay entwined on my bed and lazily kiss their lips and make them food and get to know every single curve and contour they have

I want to touch someone with my finger tips and make them feel loved

the moment you realize
that your bones are made of the same dust
as the planets,
your lungs are breathing the same air
as the migrating butterflies,
and your blood is pumping because
of the love and care of thousands;

is when you realize
that you are not as broken
as you think you are.
you are full
of the world.

That’s what people do who love you. They put their arms around you and love you when you’re not so lovable.

I’d cut my soul into a million different pieces just to form a constellation to light your way home. I’d write love poems to the parts of yourself you can’t stand. I’d stand in the shadows of your heart and tell you I’m not afraid of your dark.
